NUTRIENT FORMULAS

Parasitosis has been deemed to be one of the most infectious diseases known to mankind. Once thought to be a phenomenon of only underdeveloped and Third World nations, evidence suggests that it is on the rise in America and other developed nations as well. This may be in part due to the massive influx of immigrants from third world nations into developed countries and subsequent transmission through the socioeconomic infrastructure. Another recognized method of transmission is through household pets that act as asymptomatic carriers of parasites and their eggs (cysts). Indeed, on a nationwide basis, millions of people are affected at any given time, often being asymptomatic carriers themselves. The most common types of intestinal parasites are Lamblia giardia, Entamoeba histolytica, Toxoplasmosis, Hookworm, Pinworms, and tapeworms. Two newly recognized parasites are Blastocystis hominis, and Endolimax nana.

L. giardia and E. histolytica essentially produce the same symptoms ranging from asymptomatic to diarrhea, gas and malabsorption. Their cysts can be spread from person to person or from contaminated food and water. The cysts of these bacterial parasites are capable of infecting the liver and causing it to abscess if untreated. Severe amoebic dysentery can give rise to bowel perforation, peritonitis and death.

Endolimax nana is an amoeba usually causing vague symptoms of diarrhea, gas and abdominal bloating. Studies have shown an association between reactive arthritis and E. nana. Toxoplasmosis is a bacterial parasite particularly dangerous to pregnant mother. It can cause spontaneous abortion, and if the child survives the parasite can cause brain damage, and retardation. Toxoplasmosis effects primarily the central nervous system, spleen and lymph nodes. It is transmitted from contaminated beef, pork, and mutton. Cats are highly susceptible to toxoplasmosis which they excrete in their stools. Symptoms range from chills and fever to hepatitis and swollen lymph nodes

Blastocystis hominis is a weak pathogen associated with "traveler's diarrhea", mucous colitis, and food allergy. It is opportunistic in nature and colonized as a result of imbalance in gut flora, poor nutrition and contaminated food.

Hookworms are endemic to the warm climates of the southern U.S. They enter the body through the soles of bare feet and migrate to the small intestine. A single hookworm can ingest a cubic centimeter of blood daily. Symptoms are anemia, fatigue, palpitations, abdominal pain and hunger.

Round worms and tapeworms are similar in nature to hookworms, producing relatively the same symptoms. The eggs enter the body through contaminated water, food or by soil and fecal contaminated hands.

Pinworms are common in children throughout the world. They live in the lower intestine where they lay eggs causing anal itching. The eggs get under the fingernails and eventually into the mouth where the cycle begins again. The eggs can also be found on clothing and bed sheets where they can spread to other individuals.

Treatment of intestinal parasites can be difficult due to the toxicity of the drugs involved and the severity of infestation. Herbal medicines are becoming more favored since they are gentler and without side effects. Herbal combinations are proving to be even more promising due to their synergistic action.

Black Walnut Hulls, one of the oldest herbs used for the treatment of intestinal parasites, dating back to biblical times. Its antiseptic properties make it an effective vermicide capable of dispelling tapeworms and amoebas.

Quassia is a long forgotten vermifuge used to expel parasite cysts form the upper and lower G.I. tract. Quassia is particularly effective in clearing parasite cysts that have migrated into the liver and bile ducts. Taken in an enema it will eliminate pinworms. Quassia is also known for its tonic properties.

Chlorophyll is a plant phytogen that increases the peristaltic action of the colon and corrects the pH of the bowel making it undesirable for parasites to inhabit. Chlorophyll also helps regenerate damaged liver cells.

The combining of these tinctured herbs in a glycerinated base mixed with pure aloe vera juice has been highly effective in eliminating intestinal parasites.

The effective removal of intestinal parasites requires a dietary protocol as well. Sugar and simple carbohydrates such as honey must be absolutely eliminated from the diet. These substances literally feed parasites. Research shows that parasites will excrete an insulin-like substance causing the host to crave sugar.

The diet should consist of mainly steamed vegetables, rice and raw vegetable green juices during treatment. Protein should be chicken or fish that is baked or broiled. Red meat is prohibited, as well as bread, fruit and fruit juices.

Digestive enzymes are required but must be ox bile or bile salt free (Quest-Zyme) since studies have shown that bile feeds parasites. Digestive enzymes must contain betaine HCl" papain, and bromelain to help digest and destroy cysts and parasites in the upper intestine and, stomach.

An enema or colonic should be taken on day 3 and again on day 6 or 7. Recolonization of the intestine with friendly flora (Quest-Dophilus) is also required due to the imbalance created by the parasites but should not begin, until after the herbals are complete.

Often, reinfestation occurs since the eggs can survive on clothing and other contaminated articles. Meticulous personal hygiene and household sanitation is essential for complete elimination of parasites and their eggs.
